The Morrisville-Eaton wrestling team won all of its matches in a row to withstand a strong challenge from Sherburne-Earlville and beat the Marauders 40-25 in CSC I competition on Tuesday night.
S-E won each of the first five matches, even though Michael Vreeland (130 pounds) stayed close in a 6-3 loss to Derrick Ferris and Ethan Morley (135 pounds) did the same in a 9-5 defeat to Daniel Hicks.
Once it hit 140 pounds, though, M-E would start to click, and not stop until it had won seven in a row and gained all the points it needed.
Cody Frost needed just 90 seconds to pin Dakota Nelson, with Jordan Doroshenko (145 pounds) taking 3:19 to pin Joe Knapp. Joey VanDee, at 152 pounds, worked all six minutes, but piled up points to beat Seth Mullanax 20-8.
In between forfeits to Luke Collier (160 pounds) and Alex Meyers (189 pounds), Ryan LeBlanc took his turn at 171 pounds and pinned Austin Coye in a scant 59 seconds. Dalton Villnave, at 215 pounds, ended the streak by pinning Brandon Thorton in 1:10.
To his credit, Shane Strong, in a 285-pound exhibition, gave defending sectional champion Chris Pike a strong fight in a 1-0 defeat and Barney Prince (103 pounds) did the same in a 5-4 defeat to Tyi Franklin.
