LIPE ART PARK EXHIBITION: Drawing In Air by Andy Schuster

A new art exhibition, “Drawing In Air,” by Andy Schuster, is being launched at Lipe Art Park on West Fayette Street just west of downtown this fall by the Friends of Lipe Art Park. An opening for the exhibition will be held at the park on Saturday, Oct. 10 between 5 and 7 p.m.

Conceived as a series of drawings rendered 3-dimensional in the real space of an urban art park, “Drawing in Air” is as much sketch as sculpture. The brilliant colors of active linear forms and compositions, suspended in air atop muted grey poles, helps create the sense of sketched lines freed from gravity, drifting into new positions as we move around them.

With these abstract sketches hung in air, the artist has offered us a way to see the park as both a space of concentrated creative energy, and a site for contemplation of an urban landscape that seems to dance with these pieces. The exhibition will remain on site for nearly a year, evolving and decaying through perennial seasons of nature and new seasons of art.
