Free with Admission to Turner to Cézanne
Experience a brush with greatness at the Everson Museum of Art, as Sarah McCoubrey, a renowned landscape painter and associate professor of art at Syracuse University, demonstrates her labor-intensive painting technique, which involves many layers of glazes and reveals everyday scenes in Upstate New York, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 in the Everson’s Rosamond Gifford Sculpture Court.
The demonstration is free with same-day admission to the exhibition Turner to Cézanne: Masterpieces from the Davies Collection, National Museum Wales, on display at the Everson through Jan. 3. The Everson is located at 401 Harrison St. in Syracuse, N.Y.
Turner to Cézanne comprises 53 masterpieces from Monet, van Gogh, Turner, Cézanne, Manet, Pissarro, Whistler, Daumier, Corot and more. The Davies Collection is considered one the National Museum of Wales’ most remarkable treasures and one of the great British art collections of the 20th century. The exhibit is on its first tour in the United States and Syracuse the only city in the Northeast to host it.
Tickets to Turner to Cézanne can be purchased at www.everson.org or at the Everson box office, and are priced as follows: $10, Everson members; $15, adults; $12, children under 18, college students (with ID), Armed Forces (with ID) and seniors (65+); and $50, family rate (includes two adults and four dependents). Children five and under are free.
