7 images in the Skaneateles Music Guild holds fashion show album
The guild — which will soon be known as the Skaneateles Music Guild — held it’s annual spring luncheon and fundraiser to support music in the Skaneateles Central School District.
Models from five local stores strutted their stuff from one table to the next discussing the clothes each wore.
Lynne Haberstock and her daughter, Sabrina, 2 and a half, were modeling blue sundresses available at Fresh, a spin off of Cate and Sally on Genesee Street.
“This is her first modeling gig,” Lynne said with pride.
Along with 5 on Jordan owner Rick Moscarito and his son Tyler, teachers and administrators from Skaneateles schools showed off the latest fashions in men’s clothing. Superintendent Phil D’Angelo, high school band director Angelo Candela and middle school band director Dave Wilber wandered the room and talked about how untucked dress shirts are now “in” — in style that is.
Roland’s owner Steve Condie, his wife Sara and their infant son Kevin introduced the community to what’s in store at the store for the family. Along with them was Parker Glowacki, 5, who is the some of guild board members and music teachers Mickey Kringer and Terry Squires. Glowacki said this was the first time he had been a model but that it was fun.
“I think it’s great to showcase all the merchants in town,” Sara Condie said of the event.
Other shops that had models take the floor were Country Ewe and Skaneateles 300.
Madeleine Nethercott and Peggy Abdallah, both employees at Country Ewe, were having a grand time at the event. Nethercott was dressed with casual elegance, sporting open-toed sandals, jeans, a black off the shoulder top and matching hat. Abdallah wore a black and white jacket over a simple black blouse and paired them with loose-fitting black dress pants and open-toed sandals.
From Skaneateles 300, Marcellus dentist Dr. Taryn Jirousek showed off her figure in a sleeveless empire waist dress and carried a bag from the shop as she mingled with luncheon attendees.
“I love this dress,” Jirousek said.
Her first modeling job came from a long-standing friendship she has with Skaneateles 300 owner, Geraldean Lantier.
Along with lunch and fashion, a silent auction was ongoing through event so those in attendance could make their bids. All of the items were donated by local merchants, said Patti Carey with the music guild.
According to Carey, who also acted as emcee to introduce the models, the funds in the past have helped to purchase instruments for the school that the Skaneateles Board of Education is not able to pay for. Funds also aid students who need help to pay for private lessons or summer programs.
Each year, the guild awards two $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors and also hosts the “Summertime with the Syracuse Symphony” concert.
Last year, the spring luncheon and the guild’s Christmas party raised more than $15,000 for the projects.
