“As the economy kept slipping away, people kept losing jobs; it was growing in monumental proportions,” Garber said. “One of the things we realized is that a lot of people who have lost jobs – who’ve been working five, 10, 15 years – are not only looking for a job, but for the most part, have never had the experience of interviewing for a job, maybe because they organically moved up the ladder.”
So far, Garber said, the response has been amazing.
Staff consists of more than 300 seasoned human resources professionals across the country, with specific knowledge of recruitment and hiring processes from leading companies such as Dell, Microsoft, Amex and the Hyatt.
“These are people who are director level or above who have been in the human resources field for at least five to 15 years,” Garber said. “They know how the process works.”
Staff members act as coaches in more than 55 career fields, from sales and marketing to engineering and law. They offer a one-hour, one-on-one coaching session through Skype, an Internet-based, real time communications tool.
If you have an interview and are nervous about your interviewing skills, the coaches can upload your resume, and through the session, help you hone your skills. A Webcam is required to evaluate body language, eye contact and appropriate interview apparel. Feedback follows.
“At the end, you get a written evaluation,” Garber said. “If you have an interview coming up, you’ll actually get a reminder that day from the coach, going over the points. We follow and track you every step of the way.”
