This is an appeal to all artisans and craft persons to support our local Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton by making a donation of your hand-made items to the annual CMH Auxiliary Holiday Sale, this year to be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 5 at the Hamilton Baptist Church. This appeal is being made a month before the sale so that you will have time to craft your donated items.
Many shoppers come looking for items that are handmade. We all know they make some of the best and most appreciated gifts but many of us are just not handy enough to do it on our own. That’s what makes the CMH Holiday Sale is one of best sales in the area to find that gift for the hard-to-buy-for person.
Whether you sew, crochet, knit, weave, quilt, make ceramic ware, make jewelry, or have some other skill, please consider making a donation. Warm sweaters, hats and mittens are snapped up quickly at the sale. Boiled wool handbags have been a hot item in years past. Hand-thrown pottery, beautifully woven placemats and beaded jewelry have all been contributions by this special group. Exceptional holiday decorations and ornaments are also on display and for sale. There are also woodworkers who are crafting projects such as shelves and birdhouses for sale at the event. Anyone donating can receive a tax-deductible form for their contribution as well.
Many local artisans are already hard at work to again make this major fund-raising project a big success. If this is something that interests you or if you have any questions, would like suggestions for things to make, or if you would like to make a donation, please call Jan Stradling at 824-3361 or Bernie Steneri at 824-2439.
