B’ville Police Explorer Post seeks new members

The Baldwinsville Police Explorer Post is currently conducting a membership drive and they are actively seeking new members. The Post has been very active during the 2009 year during a number of different events in the community, highlighted by volunteering at the Beaver Lake Nature Center in July, along with assisting at The Syracuse Home Association on Meigs Road with their annual trick-or-treat event. This year marks the second year that The Explorers have volunteered their time at this event.
Over the past year, the members of the Post have also been able to take a tour of the Auburn Prison as well as the Onondaga County Correctional Facility in Jamesville. Past tours have included the Justice Center Jail, F.B.I. Academy in Quantico, Virginia and participation in the State of Connecticut and New York Stations Day events.

The Baldwinsville Police Explorers Post assists with many events in the community including the Seneca River Days, Oktoberfest and the Memorial Day Parade. They assist the Baldwinsville Police Department with traffic direction, digital fingerprints and are able to participate in regular “ride-alongs” with officers from the department. Meetings are held twice a month where members of the Post receive training and instruction on police operations and other criminal justice topics.

The Baldwinsville Police Explorer Post is the longest continuously active Post in Onondaga County and the requirements for the Explorer program is for anyone ages 14 to 21, maintain a “C” average and be of good moral character.
