Defibrillators donated to Manlius

The town of Manlius Police Department’s Automated External Defibrillator program recently received a major boost when First Responder Educational Services (FRES) and Integris Financial Network LLC of Syracuse presented the department with four new automatic external defibrillators (AEDs), as well as training and support to go along with them.
The donation was made possible by the company’s “FRES Cares” program and the commitment of both companies to save lives by reducing cardiac arrest fatalities.
The Manlius PD has maintained an AED program since October 2000 and since then, a number of lives have been saved. All uniformed Manlius patrol officers carry the AED devices in their police vehicles while on-duty.
Sudden cardiac arrest takes the lives of more than 400,000 people from all walks of life and ages, striking quickly and without warning.
“Immediate medical care is the key to survival,” said John Alibrandi, founder of First Responder Educational services and a former Manlius resident.
By having state-of-the-art AED’s in their vehicles, the Manlius police will be able to further improve their services.
In accepting the new AED devices, Police Chief Francis R. Marlowe thanked the companies for their generosity.
“The donation comes at a time when the department is seeking to update its first generation AEDs through the support of corporate donors, civic organizations, groups and individuals,” Marlowe said.
