Track teams find wins at Christmas Relays

A trio of local indoor track and field teams strung together some victories during last Saturday's CNY Indoor Track Association Christmas Relays at Hamilton College.
On the girls side, Jamesville-DeWitt finished third, with 66 points, while Fayetteville-Manlius took fourth place with 47 points and CBA (30 points) tied for fifth. Liverpool (76 points) edged Cicero-North Syracuse (75 points) for the team title.
J-D saw Natalie Mannion (45.10 seconds) and Linsay Royer (45.35 seconds) claim the top two times in the 300-meter dash as the Red Rams won in 1:30.45.
Marae Tearney had the top indiviual shot put toss of 33 feet 6 inches as she and Sierra Vasiliou finished second overall (63 feet 7 inches). Amanda Tan and Danielle Doss got second in the triple jump with 57 feet 5 1/2 inches.
Tearney and Vasiliou combined for a third-place time of 16.20 seconds in the 55-meter dash. Liz Pieri and Katy Pieri got to third in the 400-meter dash (2:15.35). The Rams were also third in the high jump (9 feet 6 inches) and 1,000-meter run, plus fourth in the triple jump and fourth in the 1,500-meter run. J-D got fifth in the 3,000-meter run.
F-M won twice, including the 1,500-meter run, where Jillian Fanning (5:22.69) and Maggie Malone (5:28.96) had the top two individual clockings. Kelly Perry and Alex Seabury prevailed in the long jump, with combined leaps of 28 feet 11 1/2 inches.
Mackenzie Carter and Kathryn Fanning were second in the 800-meter run (5:21.55), while Hannah Luber and Courtney Chapman got third in the 3,000-meter run, just two weeks removed from leading the F-M cross country team to a fourth straight national championship. The Hornets were fourth in the triple jump and fifth in the 1,000-meter run.
CBA prevailed in the 400-meter dash, where Katie Brislin won among individuals in a time of 1:04.59 and helped Ashley Letteney win in a combined 2:12.07.
Betty Etheredge had a top triple jump of 31 feet 2 inches and, with Julia Nass, won the event by going 58 feet 2 inches. Brislin also won the individual 1,000-meter run (3:06.87) and combined with Rachel Zajdel to finish second.
In the boys edition of the Christmas Relays, J-D tied Tully for second place with 53 points, trailing only Baldwinsville, who won with 64 points. F-M had 20 points to tie for ninth place.
David Salbert won among individuals with a triple jump of 42 feet 7 1/4 inches. Salbert and Tim Kendrick won the event by going 79 feet 9 1/4 inches between them.
Bumkoth Jiak and Tyler Petersen got second place in the 1,000-meter run in 5:44.74. J-D also took third place in the 800-meter run in 4:26.63, with Bumkoth Jiak second among individuals in 2:05.72, and the Rams took third in the 600-meter run and 55-meter hurdles, plus a fourth in the shot put.
F-M fared best in the 400-meter dash (1:58.98) and long jump (34 feet 1 inch), both third-place efforts with J.R. Sage involved. Andrew Roache led the Hornets to a fourth-place effort in the 3,200-meter run, and F-M also got fifth in the 600-meter run.
