Canastota board meeting becomes heated
03/10/10 Tuesday evening's board meeting for the Canastota School District became heated as the board and residents faced-off regarding the school building project that would've cost $59.9 million. When asked by a resident whether the old Sylvan Beach elementary school would be a possible solution, Superintendent Bragan responded saying it wouldn't be possible because the school is in a different district. Many community members stated that they felt the school needed some renovations,but not renovations that would cost $59.9 million. School board president Steven Nellis said that currently the focus will be on the budget, but opinions from the residents will be heard when making new plans for the school project...
