Given the current economy and budget crises at the state and county levels, which areas of the budget do you feel the town could cut back to alleviate the pressure on taxpayers?
The Town Board is currently working on the 2010 budget. In doing so, we are looking for ways to save wherever possible. By evaluating each department individually, we can have everyone share in cutting costs to the taxpayers. I feel we should try to save wherever possible by consolidating services and working to increase day-to-day efficiency in all areas.
In what ways do you think the town could consolidate services with villages, neighboring towns or the county to increase efficiency and keep costs down?
Currently we are sharing some highway services with the Village of Marcellus and several neighboring towns. We also share the services of the Tax Collector with the Marcellus School District as well as sharing the Tax Assessor with a neighboring town. We should continue to explore other areas of consolidation as a way of cutting costs to the taxpayers.
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment thus far in your position?
The establishment of the Tri-Town Southern Onondaga Water District and the Limeledge Water District
What specific projects or goals are you most interested in completing or pursuing in your next term?
I would like to pursue the possibility of consolidating the present court system with neighboring townships. I would also continue to work with the Highway Department and the Parks Department to maintain the excellent services already in place. I will continually work to utilize tax dollars as efficiently as possible.
