Given the current economy and budget crises at the state and county levels, which areas of the budget do you feel the town could cut back to alleviate the pressure on taxpayers?
I don’t know about the budget yet because it is not out. I cannot comment on it.
In what ways do you think the town could consolidate services with villages, neighboring towns or the county to increase efficiency and keep costs down?
We could consolidate the two Public Works departments. It would cut costs, if the village would be happy to do it. We would have to have the cooperation of the village as well.
What recent projects do you feel you would have approached differently than the incumbent and why?
The problem with the ownership of the fire station. The ownership of the house should be transferred to the fire department, under the 99-year condition that the town would have the first option to buy the station if the department wanted to sell it.
What recent projects do you feel you would have approached differently than the incumbent and why?
Again, the ownership of the fire station. Also, the opportunity to put justices from four or five townships under one roof, along with the trooper’s barracks, at Bennetts Corners. A system like this could cut costs for the towns of Marcellus, Elbridge, Skaneateles and Camillus, and would make it easier to fulfill state requirements by having four or five towns work as one. That’s how Onondaga County Court started; it makes sense and would keep the state happy.
