The close race between candidates for Manlius town supervisor, where Republican Ed Theobald leads incumbent Democrat Mark Tetley by 56 votes, has the potential to overturn. The board has received 278 absentee ballots and could get 199 more.
The delay also affects the Third Legislature District, where incumbent Republican Bill Meyer is leading by 117 votes against Democrat Edward Szczesniak. The board has received 198 absentee ballots; there are 135 more to go. The district covers most of Cicero and the northeastern quarter of Manlius.
Absentee ballots cannot be opened until Monday Nov. 16, said Helen Kiggins, commissioner of elections, but, she added, she’s hoping they’ll have a good idea as to who has won by then.
The board will begin comparing machine numbers tomorrow, Nov. 5.
