A ¡°Champagne and Popcorn¡± themed opening will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. also on Saturday, Nov. 7, and the shop will operate in the gallery space for the indefinite future.
The Consignment based shop is the brainchild of Briana Kohlbrenner, who recently brought the Salt City Urban Art & Craft Market to the city¡¯s Near West Side with unanticipated success, attracting over 1,000 people. In the same vein as the Urban Art Market, the shop showcases hand©\made goods and artworks for sale from local artists and crafters. A large wall is reserved for exhibiting a featured artist on a rotating schedule. Space within the shop is also available for artists and crafters to come together and share creative energies through small workshops and craft circles.
Kohlbrenner wants her store to be a part of the ever increasing local arts movement, and even part of the reason people stay in and actively enjoy Syracuse.
"I felt compelled to create an environment that could inspire people to want to stay in Syracuse and create other unique venues as well. My hope is that Craft Chemistry will bring a fresh excitement to Syracuse where creative folks can get together, create and be innovative."
Craft Chemistry was brought to the Northside in partnership with the Northside Collaboratory. Community advocates see the shop as a key ingredient for neighborhood revitalization.
