Partnership to help uninsured Madison County Residents
Fidelis Care proudly announces a new partnership with Community Action Partnership for Madison County to help uninsured Madison County residents apply for free or low-cost health
coverage.
Fidelis Care representative were on site at Community Action Partnership, 5 Cambridge Ave., Morrisville, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 11 to answer questions and help eligible resident apply for health insurance. Fidelis representatives will continue to be on site at the same time every Wednesday at CAP to further assist residents with health insurance inquiries.
Fidelis Care offers New York State’s Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus and Medicaid Managed Care programs. All uninsured children under 19 living in New York are eligible through Child Health Plus. Coverage may cost very little or nothing at all. Adults ages 19 to 64 may qualify for low-cost health coverage through Family Health Plus, based on their household size and gross monthly income.
Medicaid Managed Care is for children and adults who meet certain income, resource, age, or disability requirements.
Members in all three programs are covered for regular checkups, preventive care, hospital and emergency care, eye exams, and more. To apply for enrollment, please bring proof of age, income and address. No appointment is necessary.
Diane Ryan, MSW, Deputy Director, Community Action Partnership, described the new relationship as “a win-win situation” for the Madison County agency and the clients it serves.
“Community Action Partnership is pleased to now have Fidelis Care representatives at our Morrisville office,” Ryan said. “Many of our clients do not have access to transportation, previously making it difficult to travel to our Canastota office to meet with a facilitated enroller to apply for free or low-cost health insurance coverage. This makes it much easier for them.”
In Madison County, more than 6,900 residents, including 1,100 children and teens, lack health insurance, according to the New York State Department of Health.
CAP works for and with low- and moderate-income families in Madison County to provide education, guidance and resources for individuals and families striving for economic self sufficiency.
Serving approximately 4,500 Madison County citizens in 2008, CAP is the only not-for-profit, non-governmental agency in Madison County with a mission to serve the low-income community. Established in 1983, CAP today employs 64 people in three offices.
