Worried about staying on track this holiday season but afraid delicious desserts will head to your body’s “problem areas?”
To help combat seasonal pudge, and also to raise funds for some truly worthy local causes, Debbie Bobbett and Maggie Thompson are hosting their first ever “Turkey Buster” fundraiser.
Bobbett, proprietor of Healthy Lifestyle Management, and Thompson are both fitness instructors in Skaneateles and will be offering four hours of exercising from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday Nov. 28 at the First Presbyterian Church on East Genesee Street in the village.
“The four hours of exercise is hard,” Thompson said.
Classes include bootcamp, which is a total body conditioning class with a mix of cardio and strength exercise, pilates vinyasa yoga and circuit.
“We want to make it clear that modifications can be made for all exercises,” Bobbett said.
Participants can pick and choose classes they want to do, but all are encouraged to try for the full four hours of activity. Bobbett said prizes will be award to four-hour participants.
“There is a lot of hardcore fitness,” Thompson said. “We want to make it a challenge.”
There will be other fun activities to take part in, as well.
“We want to have fitness competitions,” Bobbett said, adding there will also be a massage therapist on site.
According to Thompson, there will be two rooms set up featuring the events activities. Upstairs in Dobson Hall, Bobbett and Thompson will he holding classes while downstairs booths will be set up with information about health and wellness.
Bobbett and Thompson will also be holding a silent auction for gift baskets and products that have been donated. Tickets for the auction are $1 each.
The event costs $35 per person, but all funds will be given to Matthew House, Todd’s Fund, the Finger Lakes SPCA and local families in need. Anyone who wishes to donate to a specific fund is welcome to make a check payable to that organization.
To reserve a spot, RSVP by emailing HealthyLM@yahoo.com, or calling 378-6700 or 729-3030. Arrive by 7 a.m. and classes will begin shortly after the hour.
