Moyers Corners Fire Department responds to scene

Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin E. Walsh reports that Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a personal injury auto accident that occurred this morning on Soule Road.

At approximately 7:11 a.m., Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the intersection of Soule Road and Burningtree Road to investigate a three-car crash. Witnesses told deputies that a 2005 Pontiac Montana, operated by Clark
Morrison, 59, of 16 Deer Trail in Oswego, was traveling south on Soule Road when he drifted into the northbound lane near the intersection of Burningtree Road. Morrison’s vehicle collided with a 2009 Hyundai, operated by Tara Smith, 33, of 4168 Chariot Lane in Liverpool, who was traveling north on Soule Road.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and the impact from the crash forced Smith’s vehicle to crash into a 2004 Dodge Stratus, operated by Diane Brown, 47, of 8388b Shallow Creek Road in Liverpool, who was stopped on Burningtree Road waiting to turn onto Soule Road.

Morrison and Smith were trapped in their vehicles forcing rescue crews from the Moyers Corners Fire Department to extricate them from the wreckage. Smith was transported to University Hospital by ambulance and Guthrie Air-1, of Sayre, Penn., airlifted Morrison to University Hospital.

Neither Brown nor her passenger was injured from the crash.

Traffic on Soule Road was shut down between the on ramp to Route 481 south and Pine Gate Parkway while rescue crews were on the scene. Deputies reopened Soule Road at 9:20 a.m. and report that Morrison was ticketed for moving from a lane in an unsafe manner.
