Skaneateles: Town continues search for people to play role in comprehensive plan review

The Skaneateles Town Board continued discussions regarding the committee to revise the joint comprehensive plan.
The board discussed the committee at its meeting Feb. 18, where Supervisor Terri Roney informed the board of two members, Irene Stafford and Bob Lotkowictz, who asked to be relieved of their duties. On Thursday, Roney said two more members have said they are not interested in serving on the committee any longer.
Those two include Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sue Dove and resident Tom Bersani. However, Bersani has informed the board that he would be happy to be a layperson and go through the plan to read for clarity.
Councilor Nancy Murray expressed her concern over the fact the board has not gotten together to discuss the size of the committee, as they had previously discussed reducing the number of members.
“It would be good for us to get together,” Murray said. “[We need to] give them a focus.”
While the board was still unsure who would sit on the committee and who would act as chair, Councilor Rick Keyes said somebody from the town board should have a finger in what is going on with the committee. That councilor would act as a liaison between the committee and the board.
“Once we do get some names we should sit down as a board,” Councilor Jim Greenfield said.
The board decided rather than scheduling another session to discuss the Comprehensive Planning Committee it was best to adjourn to executive session following the meeting to continue the conversation.
The town-village joint comprehensive plan is reviewed every five years and is slated to be reviewed or revised in 2010.
