Liedka, board award company for road improvements

Tami S. Zimmerman 03/10/10More articles
The East Syracuse Village Board awarded Paul F. Vitale, Inc. the contract for First Street road improvements at its March 1 board meeting. Out of 10 bidders, Paul F. Vitale offered the lowest at $328,647. The board based its approval on references and inquiries as well as from recommendations by village engineer Tom Compoli. However, the bid specifications may have to be adjusted if the state’s price for oil increases in the coming months, Compoli said.

Additionally, if the village decides to build sidewalks from Henry Street to the bridge located off East Manlius Street, the project could cost approximately $48,000. The board is currently reviewing its options.

Assemblywoman Joan Christensen (119th-D) has put forth an appropriation of funds in the state’s 2010-11 budget for the village’s Hanlon Pool Community Center and pool enclosure. This appropriation still needs to be approved and included in the state’s budget.

The board will next meet at 6 p.m. Monday March 15 at the East Syracuse Municipal Building.
