Michalenko pleased with Mahoney's move

When DeWitt Supervisor Ed Michalenko first heard that County Executive Joanie Mahoney and her family would be moving from the town of Onondaga to the town of DeWitt, he smiled.

“I feel it's a good move on the part of the County Executive, and it will have a positive impact on DeWitt,” he said.

The family of six will now reside in a $475,000 four-bedroom home at 6836 Holliston Circle, just west of Jamesville-DeWitt High School. It's about 800 square feet larger than their previous 2,700-square-foot residence at 4898 MacGregor Lane in Onondaga.

“This [move] exemplifies that DeWitt is a community of choice,” Michalenko said. “I wish her family the best. I hope they are happy here and are afforded solitude and an excellent quality of life.

“On a lighter note, I can only hope the DeWitt Republican Committee doesn't solicit her to circulate candidate petitions against me,” he joked.

Additionally, neighbors should see no change in police patrol or any other service “unless cause existed,” Michalenko added.

“DeWitt is home to many prominent and successful business and civic leaders,” he said. “We treat them the same as any other residence.”

Mahoney resides with her husband Marc Overdyk and their four school-aged sons.
