B'ville: Village seeks Earth Day volunteers

Staff reports 03/16/10More articles
Baldwinsville’s community Earth Day cleanup is approaching and the village is looking for interested groups or individuals to participate.

The cleanup will take place from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday April 17 along designated banks and shore areas of the Seneca River in Mercer, Community and Canal parks, Meadow Street and the Sergei Yevich Trail.

This cleanup signifies the seventh such effort of the Village’s Phase II Stormwater Management Program, which took effect March 10, 2003. The program requires the village to reduce contaminants and solids entering these waters. The cleanup is one of the many management tools the village will use to achieve the cleanup goals.

In the past six years, both Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, The Optimist Club, individuals and families have participated in this effort. This is also an excellent opportunity for Baker High School seniors to fulfill a portion of their participation in government volunteer hours.

If you or your group is interested in volunteering for this three-hour Earth Day event, contact village of Baldwinsville Highway Foreman Mace Markham at 635-9665.
