Seminar on ‘Living with Celiac Disease' in B'ville

Staff reports 10/11/10More articles
A free Celiac Disease informational seminar will be presented at 7 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 26 at Community Wesleyan Church in Baldwinsville.

Jill Hayes, a registered dietitian with Crouse Hospital, will present information about Celiac Disease including strategies for managing this condition with diet.

“The number of young children and older adults diagnosed with Celiac Disease is increasing,” Hayes said. “Individuals with this condition must avoid gluten and other proteins found in common foods made from wheat, barley, rye and oats. If the condition is not managed with diet, the consequences can be life threatening. People often ask how a person with Celiac Disease can eat and live with this condition.”

In response to these issues, Hayes will offer balanced, healthful eating plans to help those living with Celiac Disease meet their daily requirements for nutrients.

Community Wesleyan Church is located at 112 Downer St. in Baldwinsville. Although this event is free, registration is required. Call the church office at 635-3501 to register.
