Linda J. (Wesseldine) Cordell, 59 Former nurse’s aide Linda J. (Wesseldine) Cordell, 59, of Cottons Road, Canastota (Clockville), died Dec. 11, 2006 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester after having liver transplant surgery. She was born on Oct. 1, 1947 in Rome, the daughter of Leonard and Ella Mae Morris Williams. Linda spent her early years in Kirkland and was educated in the Clinton schools. She later lived in Sylvan Beach for many years, in Oneida and for the last six years in Clockville. She was a certified nurse’s aide, and had done private duty care as a home health aide for many years. She had also worked at Eddy’s Restaurant in Sylvan Beach for many years. Linda was a past member of the Women’s Auxiliary of American Legion Post1153 in Sylvan Beach. She loved cooking and enjoyed knitting and other handcrafts. She was always ready to lend a hand to others. Linda first married John S. Wesseldine Sr. on Dec. 21, 1968 in Clinton. John died on June 23, 1999. She later married George D. Cordell on June 22, 2001 in Sylvan Beach. Surviving besides her husband, George, are a son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. and Dawn Wesseldine of Camden; three daughters, Diann Williams of Verona Beach, Mary Lou Arnold of Vernon and Nancy Winchell of Canastota; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Sally Williams of North Carolina, Leonard and Marlene Williams of Clarks Mills and Dewayne and Melanie Williams of Clockville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Nancy Dombrowski and Johann and Terry Reilly, all of New Hartford; 12 grandchildren, Kaylee Arnold, Ashley Howroyd,, Melissa Egelston, Desarae Egelston, Earl Egelston, Joseph Macri, Brandon Wesseldine, Brooklyn Wesseldine, Monica Davis, Marissa Blowers, Denyelle Williams and Dylan VanDresar as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15 at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., Canastota, The Rev. E. Heather Benson, Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, Canastota, officiating. Burial: Sunset Hill Cemetery, Clinton. Calling hours 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14 at the funeral home, 201 James Street, Canastota. In her memory, contributions may be made to the family of Linda J. (Wesseldine) Cordell, 3275 Cottons Road, Canastota, NY 13032.
