Frances Chandler, May 9th, 2007

Frances R. Chandler, 87 Adventurous spirit Frances R. Chandler, 87, of Sunshine Lake Estates, New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Vernon Center, was welcomed into the arms of her savior, Jesus, at the home of her son, Al in Morrisville on May 9, 2007. She was born March 25, 1920 in Woodgate, a daughter of Edward and Myrtle Sweet Recknall and received her education in Utica schools. On Sept. 23, 1945, Frances was united in marriage to Robert H. Chandler in Vernon. He predeceased her in 1977. Mrs. Chandler was a homemaker who loved her God and her family. She was a selfless person with a very unique personality. She knew what was important in life and was a wonderful friend who cared for many of her neighbors with kindness and compassion. She was well known for her crafts of many kinds, and always led an active social life. Although she never learned to drive a car, she rode her three-wheeler in Florida. She had an adventurous spirit, and tried parasailing for the first time at age 84. Frances was a member of the Vernon Center United Methodist Church. Surviving are her children, Don and Mariah Chandler of Chapel Hill, N.C., Joan Chandler of Clayton, N.C., Carol and Bill Esch of Fredericksburg, Va. and Al and Tammy Chandler of Morrisville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Edith and Pete Piersma of Oriskany and Martha Pietsch of Utica; a sister-in-law, Mae Recknall and family of Clinton; her grandchildren, Tim and Carrie Esch, Matt Esch and Jacob, Jesse and Kristi Chandler; a great-granddaughter, Hailey Esch and many nieces, nephews and her Chandler family in-laws. A grandson, Nate Chandler and three brothers, Robert, James and William Recknall, predeceased her. Funeral services: 7 p.m. Monday, May 14 from the Randallsville New Life Church. Burial: At the convenience of the family in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Clinton. Calling hours: 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville. In lieu of flowers, her family has requested contributions in her memory be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413 or Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 6801 Rowan Rd., New Port Richey, FL 34653.
