10/30/09 Borst, Richard G. Richard G. Borst, 70, of 4520 Cornell Street, Rome, died on Friday morning Oct. 30, 2009, in Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center where he had been a medical patient since Oct. 14, 2009. Richard was born on March 27, 1939 in Seward, NY the son of Ralph and Thelma Vandyke Borst. He moved to the New London area when he was five years old and had been a resident of the area ever since. He attended VVS Schools. He married Patricia A. Lohr on Sept. 8, 1962 in Rome. Richard proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a groundskeeper in the maintenance department of the VVS Central School District for 34 years retiring in 1995. Richard loved his family and enjoyed their company in his favorite pastimes of hunting at the hunting camp and riding his motorcycle. Surviving is his wife Patricia, his mother Thelma Borst of Schenectady, eight children; Robin and Randy Carey of Verona, Richard and Dawn Borst Jr. of Durhamville, Robert and Pamela Borst of New London, Harold Borst of New London, Terri Borst and Bernie Grosjean of Durhamville, Michael and Stephanie Borst of Camden, Brian and Margaret Borst of New London, Ron and MJ Borst of New London, fourteen grandchildren; Erin and Keith Williams, Ryan Borst, Robert Borst Jr., Erica Borst, Latitia and Ron Leonard, Tricha Williamson, Bianca Borst, Tiffany Carey, Kaylie Borst, Brennan Borst, Brenna Borst, Brendan Borst, Emmi Borst and Michael Roberts, three great-grandchildren; Alexis, Corey and Maya, brothers and sisters William and Vicky Borst, Ralph Borst, Diane and Ray Levesque, Mary and Norman Moak, Beverly and Inez and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother Robert Borst. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Wednesday Nov. 4 from the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Barbara Fisk officiating. Interment will be made in Grove Cemetery, Durhamville. Calling hours: 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 3 at the funeral home 342 Main St., Oneida.
