10/25/09 Wightman, Benjamin E.
Benjamin E. Wightman, 68, of Creek Road, Oneida, passed away Sunday Oct. 25, 2009, at his home.
He was born May 30, 1941 in Oneida, a son of Benjamin J. and Clara J. Wescott. He was educated in Morrisville schools and served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962. On June 13, 1964, he married Linda J. Curtis in Georgetown. Ben was a member of Teamsters Union Local #317 and was a truck driver for Lyons Transportation and Preston Motor Freight. He enjoyed travelling and loved to hunt.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Linda; his children, Darcey and Louis Sachetti of Cortland and Todd Wightman of Oneida; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Robert Elmer of Clinton; Cybil and Tom Hartshorn of Winsor, CO; and Edith Russ of Chenango Forks; three grandchildren, Anthony, Claire and Joseph Sachetti; and his mother-in-law, Frances Curtis of Eaton. He was predeceased by a brother, Louis Wightman, and three sisters, Alice Smith, Natalie Brown and Clara Ellen Thomas.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services or calling hours.
