11/02/09 Bigsby, Marvin
Marvin Bigsby, 93, of Dewitt passed away Monday Nov. 2, 2009, at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Taunton, NY, graduated from Split Rock High School. He worked as a sheet metal mechanic at Carrier Corporation, retiring in 1979 after 39 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed camping with his family in the Adirondack Mountains and on the St. Lawrence River.  He vacationed in Maine, Florida, Myrtle Beach and Arizona. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. 
Surviving is his wife of 70 years, Alta (Cowles) Bigsby, son David (Mary) Bigsby, daughters Carol (Stephen) Szkolnik and Susan (William) Davison, nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Carol Sharpe and several nephews and a niece.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday Nov. 6 at the Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel. Calling hours: 3-7 p.m. Thursday Nov. 5 at the funeral Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd. E. DeWitt, NY.  Burial White Chapel Memory Gardens.
