10/29/09 Moyer, Robert E. , Sr.
Robert E. Moyer, Sr., 71, Peterboro Road, Oneida, died Thursday evening Oct. 29, 2009, in Upstate Medical University Hospital, Syracuse where he had been a patient for the past four days.
    Born in Deansboro on March 6, 1938, he was the son of Harry and Elizabeth Blau Moyer.  A resident of this area since the age of twelve, he attended Oneida and Stockbridge Valley Schools and was a graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College.  Bob married Ellen Northway, at St. James Church, Syracuse on July 1, 1978
At the time of his death, he owned and operated REM Enterprises and also owned race horses for over 30 years. Mr. Moyer had previously been employed  in the computer science field at General Electric, Alcoa, Blue Cross/Blue Shield and various other Central New York firms. He was a member of the Central NewYork Horsemens Association and the United States Trotting Association.  Bob was a former member of the Oneida Elks, Oneida Owls, Oneida Moose Lodge and the Oneida Lions Club.  He was a current member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving besides his wife, Ellen, are three sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert E. and Helen Moyer, Jr., Harry P. Moyer and John F. Moyer, all of Oneida; four grandchildren, Timothy, Amanda, Brett and Travis Moyer; three step grandchildren, Brian, Tricia and Daryl Piersall, and  one nephew and two nieces.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Harry and Delzon Moyer.
Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 3 from the First Presbyterian Church, Oneida, with the Reverend Stuart Wattles, Officiating.  Interment will be made in Glenwood Cemetery.  Calling hours: 3 to 7 p.m. Monday Nov. 2 at the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida.  Contributions, in his memory, may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Broad and Stone Streets, Oneida, 13421 or the Oneida Fire Department Rescue Squad, 109 N. Main Street, Oneida, 13421.  Envelopes for these funds may be obtained at the funeral home.
