10/28/09 Teachout, George J., Jr.
George J. Teachout, Jr., 79, of Oneida Street in Chittenango, passed away Wednesday Oct. 28 at Crouse Hospital. Born in Syracuse, George was a resident of Chittenango since 1957.
He was employed at the former Gray Syracuse (ESCO) in Chittenango for over 30 years retiring in 1995. He was presently employed for the past four years at Kinney Drugs in Chittenango. George was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Army Reserves for 20 years. He was a member of the Wm. Cain American Legion Post #1287 in Chittenango. George had attended the Chittenango United Methodist Church.
He was predeceased by his wife Virginia in 2001. Surviving are a sister, Eileen (Bub) Harris of Walton, NY, four half-sisters, Janet Chesney and Ruth Ladd both of Tennessee, Inez Relyea of DeRuyter and Frances Rogers of Cazenovia, four half-brothers, Raymond (Rose) Teachout of Georgia, Ronald Teachout, Richard (Sue)Teachout and Frank (Rhonda) Teachout all of Tennessee, friend and companion of past 20 years, Wendy Crandall of Oneida, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services: 1 p.m. Friday Oct. 30 at the G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango. Burial with military honors will be in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
