10/31/09 Roppel, Carol A. Carol A. Roppel, 61, of Baldwinsville, died Oct. 31, 2009 at Syracuse Home, Baldwinsville, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Born in Brooklyn, she graduated from S. H. Calhoun High School in Merrick, NY. She received a bachelor of science degree from SUNY College at Oneonta and master of science degree in reading from SUNY Fredonia. She retired in 2007, from Baldwinsville Central School District after teaching there for 25 years. She was a member of the Baldwinsville Teachers Association, Syracuse Home Association Auxiliary, the Female Charitable Society, and Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oswego. She was pre-deceased by her parents Walter and Florence (Johnsen) Gadeberg. Carol is survived by her husband of 39 years, The Rev. Dr. David Roppel, a son Jonathan (Mary) Roppel of Baldwinsville, a daughter Kirsten “Bekah” Roppel of Elbridge, five grandsons: Jonathan, Jr., Caspian, Gregory, Joshua, and Joseph, her brother Craig (Karen) Gadeberg of Corinna, ME, and her sister-in-law, Alice (Richard) Carter of Gales Ferry, CT, a nephew and three nieces. A memorial service: 2 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 3 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Camillus. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Baldwinsville at the convenience of the family. Calling hours 4 to 7 p.m. Monday Nov. 2 at the Falardeau Funeral Home.
