11/04/09 Finocchiaro, Ruth
Ruth Johnson Finocchiaro, 88, formerly of Canastota, died Wednesday Nov. 4, 2009, in James Square Health and Rehabilitation Center, Syracuse, where she had been a resident for the past five years.
Born in Bainbridge on June 11, 1921, she was the daughter of Willis and Clara Cable Johnson. A graduate of Afton High School and a resident of the area for over 50 years, she married Angelo Finocchiaro in Oneonta on Feb. 2, 1946. Mr. Finochhiaro died December 31, 1998.
Mrs. Finocchiaro was a member of the former Evangel Assembly of God, Chittenango. She was creative in arts, crafts and sewing.
Surviving are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Linda and Pierre Poirier of Liverpool, Patricia and Jack Duffy of Syracuse, Michele Koss of Boca Raton, Florida, and Lori and Joseph Guido of Verona Beach; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Diane Finocchiaro of Yorkville; five grandchildren, Joshua and Amber Finocchiaro, Jayson Koss, Natalyn Rios and Andre Poirier; six great grandchildren; locally four sisters-in-law, Josephine Finocchiaro of Oneida, Santa Todora of Liverpool, Lena Tebsherany of Utica and Marian Finocchiaro of Canastota; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services: 5:30 p.m. Sunday Nov. 8 from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 300 S. Peterboro Street, Canastota with Pastor Robert Ahern. Interment will be made in St. Agatha’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Calling hours: 2 to 5 Sunday at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service.
