In a strong effort, the Skaneaeteles boys indoor track and field team earned fifth place out of 16 teams during last Tuesday night’s Section III Class B championship meet at Manley Field House.
Overall, the Lakers earned 30 points, just nine points out of Solvay’s third-place total of 39 points. Marcellus won with 90 points, holding off Clinton (83 points) to finish on top.
Tim Lewis earned his team’s only victory in the high jump, clearing 5 feet 10 inches, which was four inches better than Alex Benoit (Ilion) and Nick Huss (Marcellus).
Calvin Davis engaged in a terrific mile duel with Marcellus junior Jesse Garn. At the line, Davis posted a time of 4:31.80, not far behind Garn, who won in 4:30.28.
Sean Cooper also got real close to a win, covering the 55-meter hurdles in 8.25 seconds as Phoenix’s Sean McMonagle won in 8.21 seconds. Taylor Weyneth, Nate Schwab, Colin Wentworth and Ian Smith earned fourth place in the 4x400 relay in 3:57.38.
