The Kuumba Dancers, a project of the Southside Initiative of Syracuse University, will open our evening with a dance “Roots Remembrance.” The rest of the evening will be a tapestry created by storyteller and griot Vanessa Johnson weaving stories and songs together. African Americans will reminisce about their lives and those of their families reaching even into the 1800’s. Vocalists Jacque Kofi and Marcia Andrews-Hagan will add the musical component. And desserts in the Southern tradition will sweeten our evening.
It will be an enjoyable, celebratory outing for the whole family at a great price: $10 for adult, $5 for children 12 and under. To learn more, call Aggie Lane at 478-4571.
