A group of about 40 people, including village officials, business owners and residents, last night attended a debate among four of the five village trustee candidates at the Camillus Senior Center.
The debate, sponsored by Eagle Newspapers, involved candidates Michael Montero, Sharon Norcross, James Palumbo and Tonya Wilson. The fifth candidate, Michael McBride, did not participate.
Candidates were faced with questions from moderator and those selected randomly from questions submitted by the audience. Topics ranged from flooding on South Street, how candidates would amp up revitalization of the village and what they would do to promote the village both to current residents and those living in surrounding areas. Several questions also focused on the Camillus Fire Department and the village’s relationship with the department.
Current Trustee Anne Clancy said she was glad to see this year’s election brought some fresh ideas and faces to the race. Trustees Ed Norcross, whose term ends this month, and Sharon Hannon were also in attendance.
Election Day for the village of Camillus is Wednesday March 18; polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Village Hall.
