The Front Burner

jbrenneman, Outbursts
Did you ever have a moment in your life when you thought that the weight of the world was on your shoulders and that despite everything you just didn't think that you could go on? That no matter how hard you tried the road ahead was beyond your ability to continue? Well then take that feeling and multiply it ten fold and then add the mistakes of those who came before you to the equation and the eyes of not only the nation but the world and then you might have a small sense of the challenges facing Barrack Obama...

The Greatest Show On Earth?

jbrenneman, Outbursts
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls and Children of all ages welcome to the most disfunctional show on earth! Representing the greatest nation on Earth and their own self interests The 111th Congress! Prepare yourself for endless hours of entertainment, drama and intrigue. God (or the diety of your chose) help us. I realize as a political cartoonist I should be happy for the chaos but even I would like something good to happen in the world from time to time...

Bernies punishment

jbrenneman, Outbursts
Crime may not pay in theory, but in reality if you are the perpetrator of one of the biggest rip offs in U.S history it apparently influences the type of punishment you will have to endure. Bernie Madoffs penthouse incarceration is an embarassment to the whole criminal justice system...

Shared Change

jbrenneman, Outbursts
January 20th 2009 will be one of those days that many people will remember. Like many other prominent events in history they will also remember what they were doing and where they were. Although it's terrific that so many peple were able to attend the ceremonies(even if they had less of a view than I did watching it with my daughters third grade class)it's interesting to wonder what other people in the world may have been doing at the time swearing in took place. Not only is it now part of history it is a part of everyones life. Now let's see if this guy can actually do more than give a great speech. I'm on his side, but as with all things in life, hope for the best and prepare for the worst...

Palin and Blagojevich

jbrenneman, Outbursts
There truly isn't anything more that needs to be said about these two other than the fact that they are their own worst enemies. Niether one is willing to take responsibility for their actions and they continue to seek out the limelight despite their shared disregard for any type of media. Both are examples of the problems that arise when people in positions of power are more concerned with their own well being and image than they are with the greater good. Although I admit as a Cartoonist it is easier to lampoon people who in a way do half the job for me and the idea of seeing these two on the same ticket gives me and endless supply of ideas I think for the overall good of society they should go away or if they really need the attention host a webcast or tv show...

The Future of Editorial Cartooning

jbrenneman, Outbursts
Lately it seems like everyone is being laid off and that includes a whole bunch of Editorial Cartoonists. What does it say about a nation where even the people whos life long ambition is to point out the frailities and failures of his or her fellow human beings can't keep a job. The worst thing for this society would be for it to lose it's sense of humor. Please support your local Cartoonist, or my wife will make me get a real job...
