Bailout Pork

jbrenneman, Outbursts
The ability of Politicians to stand in front of T.V cameras with straight faces and congratulate each other for a job well done when the world is in flames and people are really struggling is yet one more reason we don't believe they will ever be able to do anything. The world is in flames and they can't smell the smoke...

Debate part 2

jbrenneman, Outbursts
Being the devoted political junky that I am I decided to forego my usual evening of mindless TV in order to watch the latest episode of the McCain-Obama show. To my surprise it was about as exciting as standing in line at the DMV. Although there were some good points made by both candidates my overall sense of the evening was that if they really wanted to, McCain and Obama could have stayed home while a couple of their talking heads who do the morning talk shows could have done a more passionate job of getting their points across. With less than a month left and the economic state of the world now in jepordy it would have been nice to see both of them pledge to stop bickering like a couple of second graders and actual deliver answers...

mud and maybe some of it will stick. If you're real lucky you'll find someone who is well spoken and has a bit of charisma to do the dirty work for you. In the case of Sarah Palin Senator McCain has found such a person. The only problem is that the voters are expected to take her at her word that she knows what she is talking about while at the same time never revealing anything about herself...

Survival

jbrenneman, Outbursts
The one thing that you can count on in times of trouble is the human spirit to survive. The current state of the financial markets has many people in panic mode and although it is understandable when it all comes down to it they had far to many things to begin with. How many cars, cell phones and houses do people really need? Perhaps if people were a bit more cautious and looked ahead more than a week they may have been prepared for the demise of their affluence. This nation has survived wars, disease and the sixties I think it can survive a bit of financial downsizing...

Campaigning 2008

jbrenneman, Outbursts
I hope that some day when furture generations look back and see just how petty a group of people can become when they are engaged in a political campaign that they will be able to take pride in the fact that they no longer act in the same manner...
