Hope for baseball.

Barry Bonds is on the verge of making history, again. And that's got all the radio talk-show hosts buzzing about what Barry did, and what he didn't do, to blast his way to the the most hallowed of all baseball records: the career home runs record.

I'm blown away by those who say we should celebrate the accomplishment because Bonds hasn't been convicted of anything. Since we're talking about records, let's set one straight: Nobody is actually innocent until proved guilty. That's legal nonsense. If you did something, you are, in fact, guilty -- whether it's proved in a court of law is really a side issue. Plenty of guilty people are found innocent, and plenty of innocent people are sitting in prisons...

Worse for a Yankees fan.

If you're a fan of any other team in baseball, you start each season with cautious optimism -- with the hope that your team will make the playoffs or, at the least, have a winning season.

If you're a Yankees fan, you start every season believing that this is your year -- knowing the Yankees belong in the postseason. And you believe that this is the year the Bombers are going to win their elusive 27th World Series.

All you Red Sox and Mets fans are surely shaking your heads. You call it arrogance. You complain that the Yankees have the highest payroll, and have had more than their share of championships. You relish each Yankees loss as if it's payback for years of humiliation...
