It seems there's a lot of "where were you..." going around today. The news media and governments have made a big deal of this, the five-year anniversary of the World Trade Center collapse.
Life spins so fast that it's hard to believe it's been five years already.
I was home when the first plane struck. I was dressing for work when the phone rang. As the managing editor of a daily newspaper at the time, it was my responsibility to rally the troops, to get every angle covered, to tell the story for the next edition. I turned on the TV just in time to see the second plane strike.
I remember walking in to my office, turning on my computer and setting to work...

Look, I've never been much of a fan of "journalism," even when I was a "journalist." In my mind, journalists were the pompous, arrogant jerks who tip-toed around police scenes or talked to governors and such, always talking down to the masses.
For the most part, I believed that even through my days as a reporter, editor and columnist, at a daily newspaper and here at Eagle. I did my job differently...
